Since the start of the school year, what was previously the boys bathroom by B-pod, have been under construction. With the sounds of construction equipment being heard during the first couple weeks of school, it seems that they’ll be finished soon. However, with little to no news easily accessible to students, it’s unclear why it’s still unfinished.
These are the universal bathrooms that the district has been discussing since last year.
Capital High School Dean of Students, Daniel Grimm, is the main person in charge of overseeing the bathroom renovations, clarified the end result of the bathroom, “these bathrooms are designed for anyone that would be more comfortable in that type of space… I believe its floor to ceiling partitions.”
Grimm further explained why these bathrooms are still in a renovated condition, “We’re expecting it to be open by the end of October, the only thing holding it up right now is the partitions… it’s just a waiting game on when those come in. But the bathroom is pretty much ready to go.”
With the bathroom opening sometime this month, the school is looking forward to this space.
Hopefully this will mark a turning point for Capital High School, and the district will continue to take measures to make our school spaces open and inclusive to everyone.
