Women at CHS

Does CHS support women’s rights in the school? I have interviewed a woman at CHS who will give us her opinions about the school.

This should matter because of everything that has happened in the past and how hard women have come to be at the point we are now so we should make sure it is equal in a place where we learn.

Women have been struggling with equality all through time and there have been so many protests and things that have been done to help women be equal. We should continue trying to do things like that in school. I don’t think this is an easy fix because it comes from society’s roles as well as what is wrong/right in the eyes of our peers, so I don’t think we will be able to fully fix it but we could do a better job at it.

I interviewed Logan, a CHS student, and she gave insight into what it is like being a woman at CHS. I asked her, “How does it feel being a woman at CHS?” She replied, “It can feel weird at times, especially with the way that most men don’t know how to treat or respect women.”

I asked Logan, a CHS student, “Have you ever felt targeted being a woman at CHS?” She said, “I have felt targeted at CHS, especially with teachers that keep track of how much I use the restroom and are mad that I am taking too long or going too often.” Women have a menstrual cycle each month so it should be perfectly okay to be gone a little longer and some teachers disregard that.

Another question I asked Logan, a CHS student, “Do you feel like CHS has gender equality?” She replied “I do feel like CHS has gender equality but I also feel like a lot of people don’t know how to respect it. I think that this shows that CHS is on the right track but there is still some work to be done.

If we try and push to make equality a thing in schools it could make it a lot easier for students.
