Do you enjoy a little mid-day snack? Well, even though snacking has developed a “bad image,” snacks can be an important part of your everyday schedule. They can provide energy in the middle of the day or for students/athletes who need to fuel their bodies for success. Frequent meals and adequate hydration throughout the day can have many benefits such as a good blend of protein, healthy carbohydrates, healthy fats, and lots of water is the best method to keep the brain and muscles fueled. In addition, as well as sharpen your mind and concentration for the strenuous hours of schooling and sports. 

Are you eating enough? According to the Health Community, “students need to eat something healthy about every three hours during the day.” When you think about it this way, it’s obvious that students need to continually fuel their body and the school system doesn’t make it an easy venture. 

Waiting for lunch isn’t good enough! Looking at Capital High School schedule you can see that lunchtime is around 12:00 pm and lasts for about 30 minutes! The difference between the time you eat breakfast and the time you eat lunch is far too long for an average high school student. Students who find themselves going too long without eating and get too hungry can become agitated and find it difficult to concentrate on a task.

Why should you care? Healthy snacks help to satisfy hunger between meals and boost energy. As students consuming healthy snacks can help the body recover after exercise, feel happier, and allow you to have more energy throughout the day. It can be difficult to find time to eat throughout the day, especially if you have school or sports but establishing good habits can make your day a little better and boost your mood! Think twice before skipping snacking there might be some benefits that could make your day effective and efficient!
