President Trump’s inauguration had news’ people baffled when the size of it turned out not have an outrageously huge audience. It was believed that President Trump would have had a vast number of his following there and even Sean Spicer, White House Press Secretary, claimed that it was the largest inauguration he had ever seen. But it was found later Spicer wasn’t telling the truth.

The big controversy was the comparison photo of Mr. Obama’s inauguration photo in 2009 and President Trump’s inauguration photo. Mr. Obama’s photo shows the audience filling the stands, and covering the ground all the way past the Washington Monument. In President Trump’s photo it was crowded with more space. Part of the reasoning for this is because Mr. Obama’s presidential following was in the Washington D.C area, so more of his supporters showed at his inauguration. President Trump’s following was the southern states, so of course not much of his following was going to show.

The weather that day was also 45 degrees and raining but, Mr. Obama’s inauguration in 2009 was a below freezing 28 degrees. President Trump said that the weather at his own inauguration was a big factor to why his attendance wasn’t as high as everyone was expecting. President Trump had an enormous numbers of his following when it came to his political rallies and everyone was expecting record-setting inauguration attendance, but that did not happen. The estimated audience size was around 250,000 tickets sold while Obama was 1.8 million tickets sold at his 2009 inauguration.

Spicer made his claims about President Trump’s inauguration and when it turned out he wasn’t being 100% truthful, the media got quite furious. Spicer said, “It was the total largest audience witnessed in person and around the globe.” Many were saying that he was lying and that the government in general was one big lie. Even if what Spicer said wasn’t true, there are many factors that tie into why President Trump’s inauguration wasn’t as large as expected.
