It seems with every Google image search a few photos come up as search results from websites like Shutterstock. While many of these watermarked images may seem like completely normal choices to buy, countless strange, disturbing, and off-putting images abound. Many of these pictures are commissioned for one reason or another, but regardless, it brings in an income. Ryder Martin, 12, agrees, “Sure. It’s not a glamorous, but neither is living in your parent’s basement for life. I make a solid return on writing the captions for stock images.” Unlike Martin, few understand that this is a viable job market- the making and describing of such photos. Enter: Mr. Wright. Kevin Wright, computer instructor at CHS is designing a new course blending art and technology.  “In terms of the one course that will yield our students millions, this class will be it. I have the time and the skill to make this happen. I’m excited to start, as soon as track is over.” Many of these photos feature other objects such as a large variety of fruits, vegetables and inanimate objects and are considered avant garde art. Some of the infamous ones have been licensed hundreds of times and have netted over $12,000 in income. Scott LaViollette, CHS math instructor, commented, “I am so up for this hip class. Finally, I won’t have to teach yoga classes anymore to make my first million. Mr. Bill Gates, you’ve got competition. Don’t get lazy.” Mr. Joel Komchlies CHS counselor, is relived, “Finally, a stable money-making option for all the hapless art and English majors.”
